In a unanimous vote by it members, the Fort Bend Commissioners Court reached a joint agreement that will approve the construction of a connector road between Westpark Tollway and Grand Parkway.
The commissioners stated that the connector is needed to alleviate traffic issues and improve public safety. The joint agreement will use about $10.3 million in sales tax revenue to contribute to the project. The toll road authorities will contribute $36.2 million for the remainder of the project, raising the total project cost to $46.5. No county general funds will be used to construct the new connector roads, allowing them to remain toll-free.
Grand Parkway is overseen by the Texas Department of Transportation; work on this project will coincide with their planned improvements to the state highway. Construction will begin in 2020 will take just over 2 years to complete.
